After some success in exhibiting sculptural work in the mid 1970's, Peter Walwin chose to leave the engineering profession to pursue woodcarving professionally in 1984. He attended Rycotewood College and studied Fine Craft and Design of Furniture 1984 - 85 and has since been in business as a woodsculptor, woodcarver and maker of fine furniture. He has taught woodcarving for many years, most recently at Nature in Art, Gloucester, where he has been Artist in Residence regularly since 1992.

An active member of the British Woodcarvers Association he co-ordinated and participated in the creation of the Severn Story Pole at the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust, Slimbridge in 1992. His work has attracted the top price at Sculptree auction on several occasions, the most notable being his 12ft high "Dragon" in 1997. In contrast he has undertaken on miniature scale, the smallest being a figure in ebony 3/4 inch (18mm) high.

A member of the British Decoy Wildfowl Carvers Association, he has won a number of awards, and has been invited to judge national competitions. He has also exhibited with the Society of Wildlife Artists. Examples of his work are in the possesion of the Sultan of Brunei, Emir of Doah, Duke of Westminster, Viscount Linley, The National Trust, Nature in Art and Westminster Abbey.

He is pleased to undertake commisions for woodsculpture and fine furniture, traditional and modern. Go to the Gallery section of the website for examples of some of his work.
